The outdoor riding arena at Winding Hill Stables set with a full course of jumps

A horse farm since 1760 · Northport, Long Island

A quiet barn with
serious horsemanship.

Riding lessons, hunter/jumper training, showing, and lay-up care on two wooded acres — nineteen stalls, nine paddocks, and a full lighted jump course.

What we do

Full-service care, instruction, and competition

Everything a horse and rider need in one place — from a first walk-trot lesson to a full show season, and the recovery time in between.

Boarding

Matted stalls with enclosed fans, twice-daily cleaning, individual feed programs, and daily turnout on a property zoned for a full equestrian operation.

Riding Lessons

Private instruction for children and adults, from complete beginners through experienced competitors. Lesson horses and ponies available, plus horsemanship lessons for riders who want to learn the ground work too.

Training

Professional flatwork and jumping programs for horses at every stage — starting young horses, tuning up campaigners, and solving the problems in between.

Lay-Up Care

Attentive rehabilitation and recovery care with daily monitoring, controlled turnout in quiet paddocks, and close coordination with your veterinarian.

Horse Showing

Full show services on the Long Island and regional circuit: preparation, braiding, shipping, day-of coaching, and management at the ring.

Sales & Leases

A rotating selection of horses and ponies for sale or lease, matched honestly to a rider's ability and goals rather than to a budget.

Lessons

Now accepting new students

Riders start where they are. A first-timer works on position, balance, and steering at the walk, while a more experienced rider works on whatever the goal actually is — flatwork and position, or full courses and show preparation.

  • Private lessons by appointment, six days a week
  • Safe, experienced school horses and ponies
  • Horsemanship lessons for riders who want to learn grooming, tacking, and day-to-day horse care
  • Beginner through advanced hunter/jumper instruction
  • Adult riders and returning riders genuinely welcome
  • Arena lighting means lessons continue after work and after school
